During the period from September 1st to October 20th, we recruited many new volunteers with the campaign Take the first step quickly. The campaign focused on low-threshold and flexible volunteering, as this better suits the busy schedules that many people have nowadays.
Five tips for the job board
Are you already using our new job board? Since mid-February, we have been working with a brand new system. Here are five tips to attract more volunteers.
1. Lost login details?
You can log in viathis linkYour login name always ends with @vca.login. Usually, your name as written in your email address is in front of it, or the name of the organization you work for. So: yourname@vca.login or organizationname@vca.login. If it doesn’t work, give us a call, we can reset your password or look up the login for you.
2. Add an image!
Always include fun atmosphere photos with your job listings and organization details. This will make your vacancy stand out even more. Place a photo under the ‘job image’ heading. Click on the pencil icon and easily paste an image here or upload by clicking on the Image icon in the toolbar.
3. Logo at your organization
Having a logo for your organization is a nice addition. You only need to do it once, and it will appear on all your jobs. You can do this under the ‘Organization logo’ section in Organization Details.
4. Create a catchy promo text
This is the first text that volunteers see on the website when they scroll through the list of vacancies. For example, a question or a super short description of the purpose of your organization and the position. A good example is: ‘Do you love driving? We urgently need drivers for our Care Bus for various medical consultations on location in Amsterdam on days of your choice.’
5. Be thorough and complete in the description
Always include in your vacancy: What does the position entail?, Who will you be working with?, What do we expect from you as a volunteer?, How often is the commitment required?, What are the benefits for you?, What are the requirements for a volunteer to meet? and for example: Why is our organization great to work for?. Put yourself in the volunteer’s shoes and consider what he or she would want to know before deciding to come and help you. What are the things that would convince a potential volunteer to choose you specifically?
Online Q&A session
We notice that there are still some questions about the use and operation of the system. That’s why we regularly organize an online Q&A session.
- How do I ensure that my organization is presented nicely on the job board?
- How do I place a good, complete advertisement? How can I make it even more attractive with images and photos?
- How do I respond to an application from a potential volunteer?
- What do I do when someone has been accepted/rejected?
