Welcome civil servants as volunteers at your organization
Starting from June 1, civil servants will have the opportunity to do volunteer work during working hours. In consultation with their supervisor, they can spend a maximum of 32 hours per year on this. The hours can be used within one week or spread out over several weeks or months, depending on the preference and availability of the civil servant. The municipality encourages civil servants to mainly focus on the areas North, New West, and Southeast. Additionally, it is important that they contribute to a social issue that is related to the municipality’s mission. Think of combating loneliness, poverty, sustainability, health, and well-being.
Do you want to welcome civil servants as volunteers? Make sure you have posted a vacancy on ourjob boardThink of volunteering that takes one hour per week for 32 weeks, or that requires 16 hours over four weeks, or volunteering that can be done in one day. All forms are allowed.

Volunteer relay work
When civil servants have a limited number of hours available, it can be difficult to find a suitable place. Our advice is to also offer relay volunteering opportunities. For some positions, it doesn’t matter who comes, as long as someone comes. Think of preparing lunch in a drop-in center, supervising a game afternoon in a nursing home, or mucking out the stables at a petting zoo.
If the training takes little time, relay volunteering is the solution! A group of volunteers applies together for one position which they then take turns to fulfill.
Is your position suitable for this? Include in your job posting:Suitable for relay volunteering.
