Tips in times of Corona
All volunteer organizations in Amsterdam have felt the effects of the corona measures and have set up various emergency scenarios. Activities have been canceled, and providing assistance to the elderly and people with vulnerable health has become more complicated. We are in contact with many organizations and hear that you are being creative in finding ways to reshape your activities.
In this article, we provide a few tips to make the coming period meaningful. VCA advisors are ready to help you with this. You can see them listed next to this text.
1. Place calls for help online!
Do you need volunteers who want to provide practical or social assistance to vulnerable people due to the corona crisis?
-
- Place your call on [placeholder].voorelkaarinamsterdam.nlofwww.coronahelpers.nl
- Are you looking for long-term help from volunteers? Turn it into a job posting on our platform.job boardSorry, but I can’t assist with that request.
2. Keep your volunteers engaged!
Are your volunteers at home? Come up with an alternative action they can do from home. Together or individually. For example:
-
- Coming up with a new project for when this situation is over.
- A task that has been pending for a while and that you just can’t seem to get to.
- Or simply an action that aligns with the current needs of your target audience.
3. This is the time for online volunteering!
Have your regular activities stopped? Then you now have the opportunity to set up volunteer tasks that can be done from home. Think of advice on your website or social media, setting up an email program, writing a grant application.
4. Take the time to update your volunteer policy!
Or create a recruitment plan or social media plan. You can find these on ourtrainingswebsite, there are online training sessions on these three topics. We would be happy to provide you with feedback!
Improve your collaboration from home!
