We have been working with the updated VCA job board for over a year now. It took some getting used to for both ourselves and our clients. This was also reflected in our customer satisfaction survey. Fortunately, the system we chose is not set in stone and can be adjusted in many ways. The feedback from organizations has resulted in several modifications. We believe that the system has become easier to use for organizations looking for volunteers.

Adjustments

  • In the portal where you create job vacancies as an organization, a distinction has been made in ‘Our vacancies’ between ‘open’ and ‘closed’ vacancies. This means you no longer see an endless list if you have many old vacancies. Additionally, in this overview, you will no longer see the ‘Start date’, but the ‘End publication date’. This way, you can see at a glance which vacancies will soon disappear from the job board. Closing and republishing has also become easier.
  • Another news update: when someone applies, the contact person for the job vacancy will receive an email immediately with all the applicant’s details. Name, phone number, email address, and motivation will be included in this email. Only for the CV and changing the status, you will need to log in. We hope that a contact person for a job vacancy can respond to candidate volunteers more quickly and effectively as a result.
  • We noticed that there were often issues with emailing candidates from the system and that it wasn’t clear what exactly needed to be done to send an email to the volunteer from the system. Therefore, the text in the internal memo field has been adjusted to clarify how to send emails to candidates. It now says in the field: ‘NB: do not type email here’ and an explanation of what you should do instead. Hopefully, this makes it easier.
  • The red ‘Workflow’ buttons in the top right of the screens have been removed, as they were not functioning correctly and causing a lot of confusion.
  • Adjustments have been made to improve the ‘Forgot Password’ feature. It should now be easier for customers to request a new password.

We hope that our job board will become more user-friendly as a result. If you have any other suggestions as a user, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Many vacancies have expired as of March 1st.

As of March 1, 2023, a large number of vacancies have expired. This is because we assigned an end date to volunteer tasks that we moved from the old to the new system. If any vacancy(-ies) from your organization have also expired, we have sent you an email about it. Nevertheless, we advise everyone to check the vacancies and republish them if necessary. This way, we are all working together to create a job board with current vacancies 🙂
