Volunteer Café Center: inspiration & contact between volunteers and organizations

Last Thursday, October 19, the cozy space of theSOOJFull of people looking for (more) volunteer work. First a drink and a snack, then seven pitches from organizations in the Center. Just to summarize:

1. St de Regenboog Groep

Rainbow Group has many projects for people who are homeless. Digibuddies is a project for people who have never learned digital skills because they are lonely, have low literacy, have mental health issues, or are new in the Netherlands, creating a language barrier.View the job vacancy.

2. Back and Forth

At the HeenenWeer foundation, they pick up people who are less mobile and cannot independently cover a short distance with a Canta. They operate in the Pijp/Rivierenbuurt, Oud-Zuid, and Centrum areas. As a driver, you take people within those neighborhoods to places like the supermarket, the library, activities in the area, or a neighborhood restaurant. As a trip planner, you receive requests and schedule the trips.View the job vacancies.

3. St De Mussen Refuge

Foundation De Mussen Toevlucht is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to join our small, friendly team, especially to help with the larger tasks in the first, original house sparrow habitat in the city center. This is an inner garden transformed into a house sparrow garden of eden.View the job vacancy.

4. Guild Amsterdam

Gilde Amsterdam is a large volunteer organization that has multiple projects, such as language coaching for non-native speakers, coaching for children with obesity, reading guidance in schools, and guiding tours in Amsterdam.View the job vacancies.

5. SOOJ

Do you enjoy working with and for the elderly in a cozy meeting space? Then SOOJ, a small neighborhood living room in the Jordaan, might be a nice new workplace for you. Every afternoon between 1 pm and 5 pm, you can drop by SOOJ, a neighborhood living room for people aged 55 and over. You can chat with neighbors, play a game of billiards or another game. Or you can find a nice spot in the garden or participate in an activity or course. As a host/hostess, you provide visitors with a drink and a chat. 6. Parish of Saint Nicholas

Quiet places have become increasingly rare in bustling Amsterdam. The Basilica of St. Nicholas is one of those quiet places. To help preserve this silence, you can become a host or coordinator for the volunteers.View the job vacancies

7. Union of Volunteers

The UVV Amsterdam deploys volunteers to assist vulnerable people, elderly individuals with inadequate social networks. The UVV has extensive knowledge and vast experience in volunteer work in Amsterdam.
