What can an international do for your organization? What are the benefits of this group? What does it require from you and your organization to accommodate these people?
Well-functioning volunteer organizations are the social capital of the city. They keep Amsterdam, its residents, and the volunteers healthy and resilient. That is the starting point, but is it still true? Are volunteers and their organizations becoming overwhelmed?
This city can flourish through the dedication of all 250,000 passionate volunteers.
Volunteers have been given more tasks in recent years. But while the workload increases, they do not always set their boundaries. Jogien can relate to this. She increasingly helps out as the elderly man with dementia, for whom she does shopping, requires more care. Now on EenVandaag.
We have signed the Manifest ‘Healthy aging is a joint effort’ by health economics professor Marcel Canoy and call on healthcare parties and administrators to engage in discussions with us and other volunteer organizations on how to achieve a fruitful and equal partnership.
About 75 volunteers and volunteer coordinators came to listen and experience what dementia is and how to deal with people who have dementia.
