Loes Tonneijck (65) has been working one morning a week as a hostess at The Costume Museum for a year and a half. She also regularly gives workshops on Staphorst Dot Painting and helps with the setup and dismantling of exhibitions.Loes comes from the education sector where she was a visual arts teacher; as a volunteer, she led a handicraft group with refugees in the Bijlmer. She found her place at The Costume Museum through Facebook. The Costume Museum is a foundation with the museum at its heart. The museum was opened in the summer of 2016 in a 16th-century canal house on the Herengracht. With the end of the costume tradition in sight, the foundation is trying to save what can be saved: the stories, crafts, and techniques are part of Dutch heritage and must not be lost.
