They work once every two weeks on Sundays in the studio of the Local Broadcast Landsmeer (LOL).EmailMenno: “I became a volunteer here through my social internship. I live in Landsmeer and this internship spot was conveniently close by. I thought it would be interesting to learn how to work with cameras. I had already heard about the LOL and sent an email. I was invited for a meeting with the contact person Janny Oosterhuis. She asked me about my preferences and interests, so working with cameras seemed fun to me.”IngeroldMenno has been working at LOL for three years. He does camera work, creates news items, handles sound for radio programs, and is now also directing TV programs, together with Mart. Mart has been volunteering at LOL for four years and also ended up here through a social internship. “A cousin of my father founded LOL, as a little boy I was already around, I just rolled into it.”
Mart and Menno enjoy volunteering and find it important; without volunteers, LOL would not exist. People appreciate it, they enjoy doing it, and they have fun themselves.
ListMart: “At the beginning, you are guided, then you have the freedom to create something on your own and receive feedback on it. You learn from that and grow, becoming more independent.”After a video, I make a list of things that can be improved
Menno: “The organization gives you an assignment with key points, and you can creatively interpret it. After making a video, I create a list of things that can be improved.”Study choiceMart: “Thanks to the freedom of work, I am learning a lot, which is making more and more possible. This has allowed me to switch from radio to TV. It’s good for my portfolio. This volunteer work has determined my choice of study.”
Menno: “I also want to go to the Mediacollege in the future.”
