Carla de Vos lost her job after a reorganization. She walked into the Multifunctional Center de Edelsteen in de Pijp. There, she helps people with dementia and their caregivers together with her little dog.

Soon I was doing more than just being a coffee lady. I facilitated activities, organized neighborhood meetings, got more involved in community work; there was always something new added.

Petra is a volunteer at Buurtbuik. “We collect food from supermarkets and companies that is on or one day past the expiration date and turn it into a delicious meal. Everyone is welcome to join. I always say: as long as I’m here, no one is hungry.”
