Roll up your sleeves with Vattenfall at Amsta!

On May 27, 2026, a team of forty employees from Vattenfall Netherlands the hands together for a good cause close to home: care institution Amsta in Amsterdam Zuidoost, just a stone’s throw from the Vattenfall headquarters. At this Amsta location, people live semi-independently in living groups. For residents who often face mental challenges or limitations, a pleasant living environment is not a luxury, but a basic need. The wish of the residents was clear and unanimous: a nice home and a beautiful garden to relax in.

The team from Vattenfall Foundation NL was happy to fulfill that wish that afternoon. In groups, the colleagues got to work on the gardens and balconies: pruning, sweeping, and planting took place, garden furniture was assembled, and flower boxes were filled with color. In between the work, there was time for a cup of coffee or tea, a cookie, and a good conversation, even among the international colleagues.

Organizing such a day doesn’t happen by itself. With an international group and a tight schedule, as the next activity was already planned right after, good preparation was essential. And that was indeed achieved: Vattenfall and Amsta jointly purchased all the necessary supplies from the garden store in advance, so no time was wasted on the day itself and they could get started right away.

The result was impressive. In just two hours, the gardens and balconies transformed into places where the residents could once again step outside with joy. The reactions were overwhelmingly positive: the residents were already looking forward to enjoying their garden daily, and there was even a cheerful question about whether they could finally have a barbecue together this summer. A beautiful example of how, in a short time, with the right preparation and an enthusiastic team, both visible and invisible differences can be made.

Vattenfall Foundation and the entire team: thank you very much for your commitment!

As a partner of both Vattenfall Foundation NL and Amsta, Business Involved facilitated this match. Based on the wishes of the Vattenfall team, we found the right location and task, ensured good preparation and briefing in advance, and provided a smooth conclusion afterward. This way, the Vattenfall team could fully focus that afternoon on what it’s all about: rolling up their sleeves for the residents of Amsta.

Collaborations like this show what can arise when companies and organizations join forces: concrete, practical help with a lasting effect for the people involved. We are also looking forward to more of these wonderful initiatives in the future.

“This collaboration beautifully demonstrated how significant the impact can be when the bridge between the organization and the assistance request is well established.”, according to Ronald Smit (Manager Vattenfall Foundation NL).

Soon, a group of 24 colleagues will roll up their sleeves at playground organization De Spin. Due to the extreme weather forecasts (code orange), this activity has been moved from June, and the team will tackle this task in August with enthusiasm. The next group activity is already planned for September!

We like to build together on sustainable commitment and collaborations that truly make a difference, with partners like Vattenfall.
