Volunteering and benefits

Volunteering while receiving benefits is generally permitted. It can be a good way to gain work experience, and it is also a way to maintain your social contacts. However, always inform the UWV or your case manager that you want to start volunteering.
Do you receive unemployment benefits (WW)? Then you first need permission from the UWV before you can start volunteering.

Benefits reduced?

Are you volunteering and receiving compensation for it?
As long as you do not receive more than the legally permitted amounts for volunteer compensation + expense reimbursement, your benefits will not be reduced.

Under 27 years old?
Then your benefits will be reduced if you receive a volunteer compensation. For reimbursement of actually incurred expenses, this does not apply.

Find volunteer work

Find volunteer work that makes you happy! A few hours per month, one or more half days per week, or a one-off job. It’s up to you. With over 1,000 opportunities throughout the city, there is always something that suits you!
