Full house at the Volunteer Café
On April 10th, the Jeltje Neighborhood Salon was packed with enthusiastic people eager to contribute to their neighborhood. We organized a vibrant volunteer café where eight different volunteer organizations presented themselves. While enjoying a hot cup of soup, wonderful connections were made and many songs were exchanged.
A brief overview of the organizations present and the volunteer opportunities:
BetterNeighbors
Are you a true peacemaker? With the Better Neighbors Foundation, you can volunteer to mediate in neighborhood disputes. After receiving thorough training, you can work as a neighborhood mediator or assist as an interpreter during conversations. A valuable way to contribute to harmony in your neighborhood!
Heart for the Vondelpark
Love nature and the outdoors? Become a volunteer at Hart voor het Vondelpark ! Help out in the beautiful Rose Garden, give tours , or staff the information booth. Do you have a green thumb or simply a love of the park? Everyone is welcome.
Future House WG
The ToekomsthuisWG is located in a cozy, renovated cottage on the WG grounds and helps residents live more sustainably. As a volunteer, you can do a variety of things: assist with events, organize activities, or work on communications and PR. Creativity is welcome!
DOCK Oud West – Cremerplein Playground
Do you love working with children outdoors? As a playground supervisor , you’ll work with a professional to create a safe and enjoyable play area at Cremerplein. It’s a rewarding job with lots of happy faces!
Prisma Foundation
Make a difference for people with mild intellectual disabilities. Sing in a choir, go for a walk together, go bowling, or just chat. Whether individually or in a group —it’s all about genuine connection and fun.
Neighborhood salon Jeltje
You can also get involved at the friendly Neighborhood Salon! Help out with the neighborhood choir, set up chairs, or serve coffee and tea. The salon is the perfect meeting place for everyone in the neighborhood. You can also start your own activity there.
HeenenWeer West Foundation
Are you familiar with the green Canta vans? These cheerful little vehicles transport residents with limited mobility. They’ll soon be operating in the West district, and HeenenWeer is looking for drivers with a generous heart and a driver’s license.
Union of Volunteers
Want to support seniors who live independently? Go grocery shopping together, offer a listening ear, or accompany someone to the hospital. Your help makes someone’s life just that little bit easier and more enjoyable.
