Expats as Volunteers

VCA_ Nick_Voedselbank_3W

An estimated 80,000 expats live in Amsterdam, making up 10% of Amsterdam’s population! Many of these people would like to do volunteer work in Amsterdam. Because they want to get to know Amsterdam and its residents better, because they want to share their expertise, because they want to become more familiar with the language and customs, or to give something back to Dutch society.

We welcome expats to our mediation consultation hours on a weekly basis. They are often highly educated and very motivated. A great opportunity for your organization to make use of this potential!

Translation Service

Are English-speaking volunteers welcome in your organization? Then it is smart to post your volunteer vacancy twice in our vacancy database. Once in Dutch and once in English. The English version will then easily be found in the English section of our vacancy database, which is also frequently visited.
You can post a vacancy in English in the same way as a Dutch vacancy, just select ‘English’ when asked ‘In which language will the vacancy be written?’.
If you would like help formulating or translating a vacancy into English, let us know. We are happy to help and will also put it online for you right away.
In that case, email the vacancy to amsterdam@vca.nu.
