One morning a week, Tim rolls up his sleeves here: preparing food for the animals, feeding them, taking care of them, and cleaning the cages.
Photo strip: Lise at the Food Bank

Lise (30) has been working a few days a week at the Regional Distribution Center of The Food Bank since July 2018, mainly in the refrigeration and freezer areas. She has already obtained her forklift certificate there. She has gotten used to the cold! A thick coat, thick socks, and safety shoes from work, that helps!
Lise became overworked in her job in childcare and ended up on sick leave. When she started feeling better, she looked for an activity that would help with her reintegration. Through a friend, she found this at The Food Bank. She really enjoys it because of the good atmosphere and also the higher purpose.
Want to do something meaningful for the Food Bank?
The Food Bank Amsterdam distributes food to its clients on a weekly basis. There are 450 active volunteers, mainly at the Regional Distribution Center in the Houthavens. This center serves the entire North Holland region.
Volunteering can be done here starting from half a day per week, with a particular need for ‘hands-on’ help. And for people with a driver’s license.>>>View the volunteer vacancies of the Food Bank here
