New: VCA Team West!

Volunteer Center Amsterdam (VCA) has also been active in the West district since July 1, 2023. Advisor Simone Timmer and mediator Niels Diepstraten are looking for volunteers for volunteer work in this district and advising organizations on working with and recruiting volunteers.VCA is there for Amsterdammers who are looking for volunteer work that suits their talents and schedule. To assist them, VCA has an extensive job board with over 1,000 volunteer job opportunities, of which around 300 are in the West district. With the arrival of the VCA team in the West district, it is also possible to enlist the personal assistance of mediator Niels or advisor Simone in this area.

Volunteer Office Hours

Residents who are interested in doing volunteer work can visit mediation consultation hours in neighborhoods such as De Baarsjes, Oud West, Bos en Lommer, or Westerpark. During such a consultation, the mediator, together with the potential volunteer, looks at the preferences, experience, and possibilities to find suitable volunteer work. Advice for organizations

VCA is also there for organizations, small and large, in all sectors, that work with volunteers. The VCA advisor helps these organizations with any questions they have in the field of volunteering. These questions range from: how can I recruit more volunteers and how can I increase the involvement of my volunteers to how can I reduce turnover or make my initiative more professional? In the West district, Simone is the advisor whom volunteer organizations can turn to with all their questions.

Events

VCA also organizes events, such as inspiration meetings, knowledge days, and volunteer cafes. On October 12, a Volunteer Cafe will take place at the community center De Gibraltar on Haarlemmerweg, for everyone looking for volunteer work. During the Volunteer Cafe, participants can get to know seven organizations looking for enthusiastic volunteers.Volunteer Café: Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM.
