New: VCA team West!

Volunteers Central Amsterdam (VCA) has also been active in the West district since July 1, 2023. Advisor Simone Timmer and mediator Niels Diepstraten (no longer working at VCA as of September 1, 2026) are looking for volunteers for volunteer work in this district and advising organizations on working with and recruiting volunteers.

VCA is there for Amsterdammers looking for volunteer work that matches their talents and schedule. To assist them, VCA has an extensive job bank with over 1,000 volunteer positions, of which about 300 are in the West district. With the arrival of the VCA team in West, it is also possible to enlist the personal help of a mediator or advisor Simone in this district.

Office hours for volunteers

Residents interested in volunteering can visit mediation consultation hours in places like De Baarsjes, Oud West, Bos en Lommer, or Westerpark. During such a consultation, the mediator works with the potential volunteer to explore their wishes, experience, and possibilities to find suitable volunteer work. Interested parties can use the contact details on the website of VCA request a free and non-binding conversation with a mediator.

Advice for organizations

VCA is also there for organizations, large and small, in all sectors, that work with volunteers. The VCA advisor helps these organizations with any questions they have regarding volunteers. These questions range from: how can I recruit more volunteers and how do I ensure greater engagement from my volunteers to how do I reduce turnover or make my initiative more professional? In the West district, Simone is the advisor where volunteer organizations can turn to with all their questions.
