Thank you Volunteers!
Today is December 7th. That means it’s time for an important ‘thank you’ in Amsterdam: during National Volunteers Day, we thank, together with all volunteer organizations, the Amsterdammers who volunteer for the city and its residents.
No elections without volunteers. No Saint Nicholas parade without volunteers. No end-of-year festivities without volunteers. And unfortunately, no care, greenery in the city, and attention for everyone who could use some support. Conclusion: without volunteers, we are nowhere. With more than 250,000 volunteers, they lighten up the city by sharing the burdens and being there for others. If we were to give each volunteer a little light, the city would be beautifully illuminated.
In the context of this National Volunteer Day, we have started an action just like every year. This year with posters and cards containing a thank you message for volunteers. In the past few weeks, the organizations affiliated with VCA have already ordered over 3,000 cards, which they have sent to their volunteers to thank them personally. Large eye-catching thank you posters are hanging throughout the city, and a thank you advertisement has been placed in various city newspapers. In addition, various thank you activities are being organized, including a volunteer lunch in the Central district and a volunteer café in the South.
