Flashback to our Voluntour

Voluntour Centrum – 15 mei 2025-11

On Thursday the 15th of May a group of 19 internationals walked the Voluntour. A tour through Wittenburg, Oostenburg and Kadijken in Amsterdam Centre. Dasha van Amsterdam from Vrijwilligers Centrale Amsterdam, Gerbina van den Hurk from Dock, Jarcine Spaander from Over de Brug and Yulia Bachvarova from Dakterras Art Productions (and more) showed them a few hidden volunteer opportunies in this area.

  • We started at the Witte Boei, a community centre with different activities. Here Willem Dielemans introduced his Tiny Buurthuis with the Guerrilla bingo activity. The Tiny Buurthouse joined us during the tour. We could play bingo along the way.
  • Then we walked to Wittenburg Playground where there are opportunities to be a host as a volunteer, they pour thee and coffee and look after the place.
  • Next: community centre Over de brug. During the walk we enjoyed the surroundings.
  • Here Conchita also represented het NGO Stichting Curinesa.
  • Next stop: TKRAMREPUS. It’s a SUPERMARKT backwords. People with little financial resources come here to do ‘shopping’, take a couple of things with them.
  • We proceeded  our tour to the Tsaar Peter 51, another cosy place where people from the neighbourhood get together to drink coffee, cook, eat and participate in various activities.
  • Then we walked to the Kadijken, a street close to Artis. Here we visit TruColour organisation.
  • We made a stop at the Eastern Church, a place where on the 14th of June the tower will be open for visitors. People could join the team of Open Tower day to be a host at one of the locations on the 14th of June, which was a great success.
  • We finished the tour at the Plukbos, close to the Witte boei. A community garden where people with different cultural background come together to take care of the garden, grow vegetables and herbs and cook community meals.

It was great to see all these opportunities and enjoy the pancakes of the Tiny Buurthuis. Click on the links for more information about the specific organisation or jobs at our vacancyboard. Most are in Dutch, but via contact you’ll find relevant information to get in touch with this initative.
